Archemedon

Archemedon

Class: Cruiser
Armament: 4x Weapons Module

The newest and finest of the Astral Confederation Navy, and considered by most naval analysts to be the most powerful warship in regular service in any human navy. Four free-floating weapons modules powered by redundant generators give the Archemedon an unlimited field of fire, and a large docking bay allows space for a sizeable fighter contingent. It is the responsibility of a wise captain, however, to arm his ship with the optimum combination of weapons modules for any given combat scenario.

Needler

Needler

Class: Light Fighter
Armament: 1x Missile Launcher

Fast and maneuverable strike craft designed for scout and cruiser escort duties. The Needler's small size allows sizeable squadrons be transported inside a naval cruiser's docking hangar. While its single missile launcher is not terribly effective against larger ships, a wisely-used Needler group can still be a valuable asset to any flotilla.

Pteryx

Pteryx

Class: Non-Combat
Armament: None

The survival of a capital ship during battle can depend on the timely arrival of a damage control team, and the Pteryx' heavy armor enables it to survive in the heat of a cruiser battle to deliver necessary personnel. Up to nine personnel can fit into one shuttle, enough for a well-armed boarding party or team of technicians.

Devlin

Devlin

Class: Cruiser
Armament: 2x TACM Cannon

Formerly the mainstay of the Astral Confederation fleet, the remaining Devlin-class cruisers have now been relegated to fire support and escort duty. The Devlin's TACM armature mount allows it a wide radius of fire, but its relatively small armament makes it no match for the Solarian Chimera. Nevertheless, the threat of imminent war with the Solarian Empire makes the sheer number of Devlins still in service a valuable asset to the Astral Confederation Navy.

Automated Freighter

Automated Freighter

Class: Non-Combat
Armament: None

The first generation of crewless freighters from Confederation Maritime were shunned by employee-oriented merchant companies, but quickly snapped up by a Navy severely strapped for manpower. A bulbous, fighter-sized artificial intelligence at the bow of the ship controls all aspects of a space travel. Stringent naval regulations on artificial intelligence prohibit mounting defensive weapons, and the AI is hard-wired to follow a series of guide buoys without fail. Any evidence of erratic behavior results in an immediate self-destruct.

Chimera

Chimera

Class: Cruiser
Armament: 4x TACM Cannon

The workhorse of the fearsome Imperial Solarian Navy. The cruisers' lack of space for more than a few shipboard fighters is easily compensated by a powerful arsenal of four TACM cannons in turret mounts. Heavy armor protects the generator and engine from all but the fiercest selective attacks. The Chimera's only disadvantage lies in the placement of its weapons: a nimble adversary can fly above or below the Chimera to avoid TACM fire from the opposite side of cruiser.

Villinari

Villinari

Class: Light Fighter
Armament: 1x Missile Launcher

Solarian raid strategies are based heavily on station-based light fighters such as the Villinari, flying ahead to pin down enemy defenders while the slower cruisers close in. The Villinari's armament is on par with its ACN counterpart, the Needler, but its slight advantage in speed enables it to effectively evade missiles and, in large numbers, become a threat to even armored cruisers.

Chirax

Chirax

Class: Non-Combat
Armament: None

An armored transport craft designed primarily for boarding and capturing enemy cruisers during raids on fringe-world drydocks. Like the Pteryx, it can accomodate up to nine personnel, but the Solarians' extensive use of orbit-to-ground shuttles in internal rebellion suppression gives their shuttle tactics a definite edge over that of the ACN.
